About Us

The club was founded in 1971 by a number of enthusiastic Rover owners who wanted to gain a little more from the ownership of Rover vehicles.

YLROC is a 'marque' club, whose aim is to provide and encourage the sport and pastime of motoring, good fellowship in all its branches and other entertainment. Amongst our members we have experienced caravanners, trials and other motor sport people, as well as those who enjoy technical or social interests.

Our annual programme, which includes competitive, non-competitive and social events, is designed to reflect the varied interests and wishes of our members. It currently includes trials for four-wheel drive vehicles, for both cross-country and road-going vehicles; Gymkhanas for all Rover vehicles; Treasure Hunts, an annual Holiday Rally and club nights held monthly at Pool-in-Wharfedale .

The Club also publishes a monthly newsletter, 'The Yorkie' which reminds members of forthcoming events, brings recent developments to their notice, and includes members' Sales and Wants. Our Editor is continually seeking new ideas, as well as editorial contributions.

For members who wish to combine camping or caravanning with their Rovering, many weekends also incorporate camping and caravan facilities. In this way Trials, Gymkhanas and the like can be extended into a complete weekend's entertainment.

Members, both new and old, are encouraged to suggest new ideas or seek advice from the more experienced members, which includes Driver Training Days, where experienced 'Off-roaders' advise and direct the less experienced in the use of Rover vehicles across country.
